Commodity prices keep on soaring high and beauty products are not exempted. Even spa and beauty services have increased rates. Well, frown not because you can instantly have moisturized skin, revved up face, dandruff free hair and a lot without hurting your pockets. Below are economical, tried and tested D-I-Y beauty tips, available in the comfort of your kitchen.
Exfoliate. You need a teaspoon of iodized salt, olive or Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) to moisten the salt and lemon extract. Mix together and you have an instant exfoliating solution. You can also substitute coffee in lieu of salt as coffee granules are gentler and leave a very refreshing aroma. Sugar and Oatmeal are also good alternatives. Don't forget to moisturize after exfoliating.
Moisturizer. Hate dry and scaly skin? Try VCO as body moisturizer. This is very effective, I've tried it. Just apply a little amount all over your damp body after taking a bath.
Itchy Scalp. For a dandruff-free hair, all it takes is a cup of vinegar with lemon juice. Pour a small amount of mixture in your scalp using a cotton ball, concentrating on the dandruff prone area." Leave for 5-10 minutes. Rinse off.
Dry Hair. So you think mayonnaise only makes good salad dressings? Why don't you try? Smother a generous amount of mayo into your hair from roots to tips. Cover with shower cap. Leave on for 20-30 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and voila!! You have more lustrous and silky locks.
Dark knees and elbows. You consumed two 220ml whitening lotion and you still have that prune-like knees and elbows. Say goodbye to those discolorations because scrubbing calamansi extract to your dark areas will make a difference in just two weeks. Slice 3 medium sized calamansi and gently scrub to your heels, knees and elbows.
Dull Face. You wake up late from a last night's party and you have to meet your boyfriendwith a dull face? Well, go ahead and meet him. Lighten up your face by patting your face with drops of milk (dissolved in water) .You may also use evaporated milk. Allow to stay for 5 minutes. Then rinse off. Your face will look instantly revived like you just came out from the shower.
Face Mask. If you are a morning milk drinker, there's no hassle preparing your face mask because the leftover could be used. Just set aside a small amount of milk, about 5 teaspoons will do. Add 1 egg white, mix, and you're on for your facial mask. Apply 2-3 coats. Let is stay for 5 minutes or wait until dry. Peel off.
Stained Teeth. Hesitant to smile cause you're hiding those yellow teeth? Well, you can show off your pearly whites now! Use baking soda as your toothpaste. Baking soda has been used for ages and is very effective. Even toothpaste manufacturers use baking soda in their products. It is also safe and can be even used by people with sensitive gums and teeth. However, use baking soda in moderation. It contains abrasive ingredients that can harm your tooth enamel. Ideally, use it twice or thrice a month.
Unveil the new you by trying these D-I-Y beauty tips. So what are you doing? Start raiding your refrigerators and kitchen counters and see what you can find!
